Hi.

Welcome to my blog where I document my learning in teaching, coaching, language and culture. During the school year, I have the honor of working with the best of two worlds. Part of my day, I work alongside with English language learners in the classroom part of my day. The other part of my day, I get to share it with wonderful colleagues as we sit down together, providing instructional coaching, brainstorming possibilities together or just listening.

Stormy Seas: Stories of Young Boat Refugees

The timing of this book is perfect as it's a topic we should all understand as there are a lot of misconceptions about it. Stormy Seas shares five true stories about families who have endured awful experiences by sea in order to arrive to a more hopeful country.

This books helps us understanding that families from all over the world has been seeking asylum for hundred of years. This is not a situation families are just now facing. Told through a collage format, combining photographs, quotes and timelines, this book helps readers (Grades 5 and Up) understand a journey that is hard to describe in words.

Thanks to the author and illustrators for this perfectly timed book.
